Today, 27th of September, 2019 makes it the 5th day we have been at the General Hospital, Ilorin, Kwara state, Nigeria, carrying series of free medical check-ups, eye screening exercises and surgeries of various forms to benefit those in need of medical assistance. The interventions, which began on Monday, in partnership with the Kwara State Association of Nigeria, North America (KSANG) and the Kwara State Government has witnessed at least 982 free medical checkup and over 100 surgeries, which were made possible with multimillion naira equipment the government newly supplied to the hospital, especially in the twin theatre and intensive care unit (ICU) buildings.

The medical intervention mission has witnessed several surgeries that were being carried out across specialties of obstetrics and gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgical interventions within the week. The medical intervention has also led to an impressive capacity building opportunity for all medical volunteers within the General Hospital with the supply of more equipment, and the opening of new wards and the ICU.

Medical intervention like this helps to improve the state of healthcare system in Nigeria, which has been depreciating and requires urgent attention. Also, it helps individuals who do not have the financial means of seeking quality healthcare services.
