Dankofa Foundation deepens healthcare support for underserved communities

The founder of Dankofa Foundation, Abdullahi Dankofa, has said the foundation has intensified its efforts to provide healthcare support to underserved and less privileged communities since 2023 through sustained medical outreaches, health education, and hospital visits.

Abdullahi disclosed this today at an ongoing medical outreach organized by the foundation in partnership with Sakinah Medical Outreach at the District Head’s Office in Kakuri Community, Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He said the foundation had made healthcare a major area of intervention as part of its efforts to improve the well-being of vulnerable people and promote preventive healthcare at the community level.

“Since 2023, we have focused more on medical outreach, educational health talks, and hospital visits to assist the less privileged,” he said.

Abdullahi, who was represented at the event by the foundation’s Programme Lead, Oliver Christopher, said the foundation’s interventions were intended not only to provide immediate medical assistance but also to raise health awareness and encourage people to adopt preventive healthcare practices.

Speaking on the partnership, he said Sakinah Medical Outreach’s contribution had been instrumental to the success of the programme, noting that the organization responded to the foundation’s appeal for support when several other organizations approached for assistance but did not respond.

He added that Sakinah’s support went beyond financial assistance to include the provision of medical personnel and sustained support throughout the programme.

“Despite appealing to numerous organizations, only Sakinah Medical Outreach responded, not only financially, but also by providing medical personnel and supporting us throughout the success of the medical outreach,” he said.

Abdullahi added that the partnership demonstrated the importance of collaboration among humanitarian organizations in extending essential healthcare services to communities that might otherwise face difficulties accessing them.

He commended the beneficiaries for their impressive turnout, saying their participation underscored the importance of bringing basic healthcare services closer to the people.

He urged those who benefited from the outreach to take the advice of the medical personnel seriously and seek further medical attention whenever necessary.
