Individual compassion and generosity have made this possible through more than N145 million donations we have raised in the last 15 years.
May Allah reward each and every donor, those who supported with ceaseless prayers and those who helped amplify our appeals, Amin. We call on you again to do both.
We now have many applicants presently on our waiting list. We appeal to you to help give smiles and hope to many families this year. A suffering Muslim is waiting for your Zakat to put a smile on his face and that of his family.
Allah has enjoined Zakat upon the faithful, making it the third pillar of Islam, and warned those who do not pay it against severe punishment. Indeed, He links brotherhood of faith with sincere repentance, offering the prayers and paying the Zakat, as the Qur’an states, “Yet if they repent and establish regular prayers and pay the Zakat, then they are your brothers in faith.” (Soorat At-Tawbah, 9:11)
The Prophet (SAW) also said, “Islam has been built on five [pillars]: Testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, performing the prayers, paying the Zakat, making the pilgrimage to the House, and fasting in Ramadaan.”(Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree: 8; Saheeh Muslim: 16).
According to figures recently released by the Islamic timing and research organization, the minimum taxable amount of money (Nisab) upon which two and a half percent is payable as Zakat in the year 1445AH is put at N8,854,480.00 which is the current cost of 20 pieces of dinar (gold).
Note that all amounts given are in Nigerian Currency, Naira (N)
