BREAKING: FG Confirms One Case Of Ebola Disease In FCT

According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), the Federal Government has confirmed a case of Ebola disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), after laboratory tests verified the infection.

The patient is a woman who recently travelled to Nigeria on an international flight from Uganda. She spent several days at a private hospital in the FCT before the diagnosis was made, and she is now receiving treatment in isolation.

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the NCDC and the FCT Health Services Secretariat are working together to contain the infection and prevent it from spreading.

Contact tracing has begun, and 44 close contacts have been identified so far. They include healthcare workers, patients, caregivers and people who travelled with the patient. Surveillance has also been stepped up, and the hospital involved is being supported to strengthen its infection prevention and control measures.

The Federal Government has called on all public and private health facilities across the country to stay on high alert. Facilities are asked to isolate suspected cases promptly, follow strict infection prevention protocols, and report any suspected infection to public health authorities immediately.

At Sakinah Medical Outreach, we encourage everyone to stay calm and informed, rely on official updates from the NCDC, and seek medical care promptly if they have a fever or other symptoms after contact with a suspected case or recent travel from an affected area.
